"PORTRAIT OF MUHAMMAD SHAH (1719-48), Mughal India, circa 1720-30. Gouache heightened with gold on paper, the Shah drawn in profile wearing jewels, his head surrounded by a nimbus and holding the mouthpiece of a hookah, laid down on card with floral and calligraphic borders, outer margin of watered paper with painted cartouches, flaking to miniature. Folio 21¼ x 14in. (54 x 35.5cm.); miniature 8 x 4½in. (20.2  x 11.4cm.)."
