"Large antique Islamic book cover from Qajar period Persia. This object dates from the 19th century but the style is actually of the Persian Safavid period circa 1690. The exterior is embossed & includes beautiful Islamic inscriptions with gold highlights & superb gold penwork. The interior is fabulous. A combination of different colour leather inlays & wonderful gold & silver penwork. This is the largest Islamic book cover of this type I have ever come across, the scale is stunning. It measures 22 inches x 15 inches when closed!"
