"ABU JA'FAR MUHAMMAD IBN AL-HASAN AL-TUSI: MISBAH AL-SAGHIR LATE SAFAVID IRAN, AH 1117/1705-6 AD. Prayers, Arabic and Persian manuscript on gold-sprinkled paper, 394ff. with 9ll. of elegant black naskh, red Persian interlinear translation, text outlined with colours and gold, opening illuminated bifolio, minor titles in blue, final folio with colophon signed by the scribe Muhammad Baqir ibn Isma'il al-Husayni and dated 1117, black lacquer binding with gold floral meander. Folio 10 x 6 7/8in. (25 x 17.5cm.)
Lot Notes: This is an abridgement of "Misbah al-Kabir" by the same author.
A note in the text says that this is a shorter version written in Persian for
Persian speakers. It did not include a Persian translation of some Arabic prayers,
and Shah Sultan Husayn asked Muhammad Baqir ibn Isma'il al-Husayni to translate
them into Persian. He completed this in 1117."
