"A FRAGMENT OF A KASHAN MOULDED COBALT-BLUE, TURQUOISE AND LUSTRE MASSIVE TILE, CENTRAL IRAN, LATE 13TH/EARLY 14TH CENTURY. Probably the left hand side of the central panel of a large mihrab, the field with scrolling moulded foliage around a foliated kufic vertical inscription, a raised border to one side with vertical thuluth inscription on scrolling lustre ground, repaired, areas of restoration, edges ground down. 19 5/8 x 10in. (50 x 25cm.)

Lot Notes: The cursive inscription is from the Qur'an, sura al-insan (lxxvi), parts of v.2."
