1a) [*urdu 1*] oh mothers, sisters, daughters! the adornment of the world is through you
1b) you alone are the settledness of lands; the honor of communities is through you

ai māʾo bahno beṭiyo ! dunyā kī zīnat tum se hai
mulkoñ kī bastī ho tumhīñ qaumoñ kī ʿizzat tum se hai

 
2a) you are princesses of the house, you are the inhabitedness of cities,
2b) you are the joys of grieving hearts; in sorrow and joy, comfort is through you
tum ghar kī ho shahzādiyāñ shahroñ kī ho ābādiyāñ
ġhamgīñ diloñ kī shādiyāñ dukh sukh meñ rāḥat tum se hai
 
3a) if you are there, then exile is a homeland; without you, a garden is desolate
3b) whether at home or abroad, the sweetness of living is through you
tum ho to ġhurbat hai vat̤an tum bin hai vīrānah chaman
ho des yā pardes jīne kī ḥalāvat tum se hai
 
4a) you are a picture of purity, you are a means of virtue
4b) you are guardians of faith, honesty/truth is intact through you
nekī kī tum taṣvīr ho ʿiffat kī tum tadbīr ho
ho dīn kī tum pāsbāñ īmāñ salāmat tum se hai
 
5a) your nature is modesty, in your construction is kindness and faithfulness
5b) in a tight place endurance and patience are [for?] mankind; the good counsel is through you
[I don't see how insāñ fits into the grammar]
fit̤rat tumhārī hai ḥayā t̤ainat meñ hai mihr-o-vafā
ghat̤t̤ī meñ hai ṣabr-o-raẓā insāñ ʿibārat tum se hai
 
6a) among men, those who were truthful have lost the truth, who knows how long ago
6b) in the world, oh truth-possessors! one way or another, truth is through you
mardoñ meñ sat-vāle the jo sat baiṭhe apnā kab ke kho
dunyā meñ ai satvantiyo ! le de ke ab sat tum se hai
 

7a) you are husbands' companions, you are sons' sympathizers
7b) [*urdu 2*] without you the whole house is desolate, in the whole house blessing is through you

mūnis ho ḳhāvindoñ kī tum ġhamḳhvār farzandoñ kī tum
tum bin hai ghar vīrān sab ghar bhar meñ barkat tum se hai
 
8a) you are the refuge of the sick, you are the courage of the useless/unemployed
8b) you are the wealth of the poor, in hardship pleasure is through you
tum ās ho bīmār kī ḍhāras ho tum bekār kī
daulat ho tum nādār kī ʿusrat meñ ʿishrat tum se hai
 
   
9a) you often come without being sought for, when you come into the world
9b) but with your charm you here overspread the whole house
ātī ho akṡar be-t̤alab dunyā meñ jab ātī ho tum
par mohnī se apnī yahāñ ghar bhar pah chhā jātī ho tum
