Here the behavior for which the beloved is being reproached is in the past; 'he' might for whatever reason have stopped pleading with her, or might since have died.
Note for grammar fans: why the discrepancy of 'un ne' versus 'us kaa' and 'us kii'? Since he can't escape from the refrain, why not use 'us ne'? I'm entirely at a loss to account for it. But then-- he's Mir, and we're not.
