{85,7}

ab to jaate hai;N but-kade se miir
phir mile;Nge agar ;xudaa laayaa

1) now, well-- we go from the idol-house, Mir
2) we'll meet again, if the Lord would bring [us back]

Notes:

S. R. Faruqi:

For the coming back to the idol-house he's laid down in ;xudaa laayaa a peerless condition, and the enjoyable thing is that he's versified the whole idiom. The theme is minor, but the wonderfully apt double-meaningfulness of ;xudaa laayaa was something within the power of nobody but Mir.

{99,5}.

A usage of this kind is also present in the third divan [{1243,7}]:

miir ka((be se qa.sd-e dair kiyaa
jaa))o pyaare bhalaa ;xudaa ham-raah

[Mir, from the Ka'bah, set out for the temple
go, my dear, for goodness sake-- may the Lord go with you!]

It's a charmer of a verse. Does it even need any explication?
