dard-o-andoh meñ ṭhahrā jo rahā maiñ hī hūñ
rang-rū jis ke kabhū muñh nah chaṛhā maiñ hī hūñ

1) one who remained fixed in pain and sorrow, I alone am

The opening-verse is by way of introduction; beyond the wordplay of rang-rū and muñh nah chaṛhā there's nothing in it.

The meaning of ṭhahrā rahā is 'remained with feet fixed, remained confronting'. This idiom we have already encountered: see

{693,9}.

The refrain of this ghazal is unusually long and constraining. In order to make its effect clearer, I've translated it as 'I alone am' instead of 'only/emphatically I am' (which is my usual clunky but appropriately complex treatment of ).
